Swhype and The Pool travelled to County Durham as The Pool talks to Joanna Hashagen, Keeper of Fashion & Textiles at the Bowes Museum. Lauren Laverne finds out how the Yves Saint Laurent ‘Style is Eternal’ exhibition came to to light.
The Bowes Museum has been building a reputation for showcasing prominent fashion designers such as Vivienne Westwood and milliner Stephen Jones. The YSL exhibition ties in nicely to the story of the Bowes Museum.
With over 2 years in the making and exhibiting 40 years of Yves Saint Laurent work. With pieces from his time as head of Dior included to final pieces created just before his retirement in 2002.
There are several themes running through the exhibition that tie YSL and the Bowes Museum together making this a unique exhibition experience.
