VIDEO: Burn the Witch – Radiohead. Directed by Chris Hopewell & animated by Aaron Hopewell, Andrew Stewart, Rosie Lea Brind, Chris Hopewell along with Virpi Kettu, Louie Mc Namara & Oli Putland.

After posting teasers on Instagram, Radiohead finally shared a new clip for their track ‘Burn The Witch’ – as part of their much-anticipated 9th album. Directed by Chris Hopewell, the video tells the story of a police officer who visits a charming and enticing place: the ‘Model Village’. With an ending that recalls the 1973 film Wicker Man, he will soon find out that the village was not as perfect as he thought…

Inspired by the work of Bob Bura & John Hardwick – the animators behind Gordon Murray’s 1966 TV series Trumpton, Chigley and Camberwick Green, this stop-motion tale perfectly accompanies the British band’s evocative, gloomy and – somehow – sinister sounding new track.

Hopewell has also worked with other music bands including The Killers, The Knife, Franz Ferdinand, Scissors Sisters, Goldfrapp and The Zutons. Here’s another spooky music video he directed for Radiohead’s track ‘There, there’ in 2003:
