The Hackney Pirates is an enterprising charity based in Dalston, London – a stone’s throw from the Swhype studio in Shoreditch. They are working to develop the literacy, confidence and perseverance of young people in Hackney, helping them to achieve both in school and in the world beyond.

The Pirates reached out to Swhype and we were only too happy to help. Our first meeting with Anthony, one of the Pirate volunteers ended with an acoustic rendition, guitar in hand, of a self-penned tune. We believe a good relationship always starts with a meeting song, right?

It resulted in Swhype working with them to produce a series of compelling videos, which would be used to raise awareness of the work they do and to act as a recruitment video for potential volunteers.
