Next Up…
After a packed month with Screen Social at LeeFest and The Cine-East Sunday Screen Social (phew), July brings one of the most creative studios together with two new music acts to The Book Club EC2.
The July 12th Screen Social plays host to one of Liverpool’s hottest new bands, ALL WE ARE (below) – described by 6 Music’s Marc Riley as simply ‘fabulous’. If The XX and Sigur Ros bore offspring, this 3-piece might be them.
Also playing one of her earliest gigs is the brilliantly etherial ATLAS – expect broken beats, haunting vocals and a bird costume.
The directors’ showcase features Studio Moross who’s founder Kate Moross’s collaboration with Simian Mobile Disco has led to some great visuals and motion design work (below).
Partizan will also be there screening a selection of their best shorts from acclaimed directors.
LIVE ACTS
ALL WE ARE
A heady mix of alternative folk and psych tinged pop kaleidoscopically spinning to the soundtrack of your reoccurring daydream, All We Are is filled with the depth and darkness of Warpaint, the alluring dual male/female vocals reminiscent of the XX, and tinged with the lush, Nordic soundscapes of Sigur Ros.
Formed in June 2011, Liverpool/UK band All We Are is a neatly matched trio of musicians Rich, Guro & Luis. Their three part vocal harmonies and kettle-whistling guitar float over flowery bass and hypnotic drums that rise from soft and haunting, to driving anthemic endings and electrifying live shows.
What the press says about All We Are
“Thank God for All We Are whose dark, sprawling atmospheric tunes sound genuinely vital and fresh minted” Tom Robinson BBC 6 Music
“Fabulous!” Marc Riley BBC 6 Music
“Elevated our Autumnal elation. Packed with soaring, syrupy harmonies but tinged with some Bat For Lashes-style bleakness.” The Fly Magazine
“One of Liverpool’s hottest new acts” Liverpool Echo
ATLAS
A relative ‘new girl on the block’ but not for long, ATLAS has a busy summer ahead. After gigs at Madame JoJos and of course, Screen Social she moves to the Oxford countryside for The Secret Garden Party and more live sets to follow. Her SoundCloud profile simply reads ‘Tales of love, melancholy and madness’. Catch her now in an intimate setting while you can.

It was set up by graphic artist and art director Kate Moross, and follows on from her work with creative collective ISO.
