Thursday night is Social night<\/b>
\n<\/b>Last month we had an incredible night with the guys from Bullion, Franz Kirmann played a storming set, the Canada selection was inspiring and there was plenty of brilliant music and content to keep us dancing until the early hours of Friday. NOW… the extended mix returns!<\/b><\/p>\n

Our May 10th event @ The Book Club EC2 is packed with 2 live acts, director’s showcases and loads more. The new extended mix will feature even more content than before and steadily builds from 7pm starting with shorts and experiments through music videos, a soundtrack soup from DJs The Sound of Film, a showcase from Parisian directing collective AB\/CD\/CD & our first featured independent director Stephen Smith… live sets from the amazing Public Service Broadcasting & Benbo, complemented by Cosmo Disco and a crescendo of sound & vision which will ignite the soul!<\/p>\n

SPECIAL GUESTS<\/b>
\n<\/b>Live music from the amazing PUBLIC SERVICE BROADCASTING<\/b>
\n<\/b>Public Service Broadcasting<\/a>\u00a0is the brainchild of J. Willgoose, Esq., who combines a guitar, a banjo, a computer and a theremin with samples from old public information films to create new, exciting and decidedly eccentric music that informs, educates and entertains in equal measure. Played regularly on BBC 6Music, Tom Robinson has described PSB as \u2018absolutely, sensationally brilliant\u2019. We can’t wait to see their live set on the night!<\/p>\n

FEATURED SHOWCASE<\/b>
\n<\/b>Directing collective AB\/CD\/CD<\/b>
\n<\/b>From the huge Partizan stable of talent come the Parisian directors curiously named\u00a0AB\/CD\/CD<\/a>\u00a0(naturally an acronym for\u00a0Arnaud Boutin, Camille Dauteuille and Cl\u00e9ment Dozier) for a showcase at Screen Social. Their excellent videos for music acts like Kasabian and Lilly Allen sit well next to innovative commercial work for brands like Amex and Bacardi.<\/p>\n

LIVE ACT<\/b>
\n<\/b>BENBO<\/b>
\n<\/b>Tris Taylor (AKA Benbo) is as talented as he is interesting. A passion for the experimental and unexpected makes his live sets an eclectic mix of songwriting, soundscapes and electro pop.\u00a0Benbo<\/a>\u00a0likes to hold parties based on songs from his album – we like the idea that this one is at Screen Social.<\/p>\n

FEATURED SHOWCASE<\/b>
\n<\/b>(The Contradiction of) STEPHEN SMITH<\/b>
\n<\/b>At Screen Social we champion independent filmmakers where we can and this showcase from\u00a0Stephen Smith<\/a>\u00a0does just that. A harder working grass-roots director with such clever ideas and infinite patience, you’d be hard-pushed to find, which is why we’re giving him the floor on May 10th!<\/p>\n

\n<\/b>THE SOUND OF FILM<\/b>
\n<\/b>The Sound of Film<\/a>\u00a0bring their soundtrack soup to Screen Social every month, with selections ranging from the anthemic to the obscure. There is always something to stir the soul taking you to a place you thought you’d forgotten and something else to hit that euphoric spot in your nostalgia.<\/p>\n

COSMO DISCO<\/b>
\n<\/b>A long-time friend and sometime collaborator of Screen Social,\u00a0Cosmo Disco<\/a>\u00a0spins a select set of electro breaks and atmospheric beats, matching the mood of SS content to a tee. Look out for some hard-to-find tunes you’ll want to take home with you. He can also be found playing out on\u00a0Space Invader Radio<\/a>.<\/p>\n

FEATURES
\n<\/b>FILM FREESTYLE<\/b>
\n<\/b>Screen your music promo\/film\/experiments in the Film Freestyle ‘window’\u2026 Turn up with a Vimeo or YouTube link to your film and we\u2019ll screen it on the night. No submission process, just a) give us the link around 9pm b) wait for our FF screening window around 10pm and c) introduce the film really fast! Films must be no more than 5 mins & brave ‘Film Freestylers’ get a Fujifilm Shorts DVD on the night!<\/p>\n

11:59<\/b>
\n<\/b>Beginning appropriately with our first extended mix until 2am,\u00a011:59<\/a>\u00a0is the point in the evening we do something cool. It might be something simple like screen some classic music videos, a special late-night live performance, or something else. You have to be there to find out. We also have a little treat for anyone who arrives between 11:59 & 00:00.<\/p>\n

SOUNDTRACK HIDE & SEEK<\/b>
\n<\/b>WIN WIN WIN! by guessing the 5 movie soundtrack tunes hidden in a certain part of the evening. There’s a bar tab up for grabs but be warned, The Sound of Film don’t make it easy!<\/p>\n
