{"id":2290,"date":"2013-05-28T20:49:23","date_gmt":"2013-05-28T20:49:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.immediapp.com\/swhype3\/?p=2290"},"modified":"2013-05-28T20:49:23","modified_gmt":"2013-05-28T20:49:23","slug":"huffington-post-admits-defeat-with-ipad-only-publishing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/swhype.com\/video-production-agency\/huffington-post-admits-defeat-with-ipad-only-publishing\/","title":{"rendered":"Huffington Post admits defeat with iPad-only publishing"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After struggling to attract advertisers to its weekly iPad magazine, Huffington Post is reportedly set to take &#8216;Huffington&#8217; to other platforms.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>The AOL-owned news website\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/tabtimes.com\/news\/media\/2012\/06\/13\/huffington-post-ventures-tablet-publishing-weekly-ipad-magazine\">launched the Huffington magazine<\/a>\u00a0last June and initially looked to monetize by subscription, only for it to drop that in favor of an advertiser-based model just two months later.<\/p>\n<p>But almost one year on and it looks as though advertisers are less than keen on the magazine.<\/p>\n<p>On reviewing six Huffington issues recently,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.adweek.com\/news\/technology\/struggling-ad-support-huffington-mag-looks-past-ipad-149780\">Adweek<\/a>\u00a0found that the publication had just one main sponsor, with the other ads self-promoting Huffington Post&#8217;s own mobile apps.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.co.uk\/\">Huffington Post<\/a>\u00a0has since refuted claims that it is to stop supporting the magazine and insists that it is doing better than expected. A spokesman for the firm also told Adweek that Paramount is to soon sponsor the edition, with \u201ctwo new Fortune 100 advertisers\u201d also incoming.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are more committed than ever to Huffington,\u201d said Huffington Post\u2019s senior director of communications, Rhoades Alderson.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe love this product and so do our readers. It\u2019s still an infant, but we\u2019re way ahead on our year-one strategy to establish the brand and a core audience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nonetheless, despite reporting that the number of active users has doubled in six months, it looks as though Huffington will not be an iPad-only magazine for much longer.<\/p>\n<p>Alderson says that a new publishing platform will allow the magazine to move onto mobile web, enabling it to achieve \u201cmuch greater scale beyond the iPad universe\u201d.
