This experimental dance short is our next video pick and\u00a0couldn\u2019t be more relevant to the theme of our next <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swhype.com\/screen-social\/\">Screen Social: MOVE<\/a>\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Directed by herself and friend <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.phillipkaminiak.com\/\">Phillip Kaminiak<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0in collaboration with <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nowness.com\/\">NOWNESS,<\/a><\/em> the film\u00a0presents the contemporary dancer\u2019s conceptualization &amp; birth of choreographic ideas orchestrated by selected movements. Kiani describes it as a &#8216;translation of the patterns of the movement in her head&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>The static shots focus on Kiani\u2019s body movement, intercut with close-ups of her feet and head, which form\u00a0the video&#8217;s narrative. The use of accelerated footage also lends\u00a0a sense of surreality to the film.<\/p>\n<p>Electronic artists\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/thrilljockey.com\/artists\/matmos\"><strong>Matmos<\/strong>\u2019<\/a>\u00a0track\u00a0<em>Ultimate Care II Excerpt Eight<\/em> adds something extra to the piece.\u00a0Recorded in a\u00a0basement \u2013 it features a Whirpool Ultimate Care II washing machine, which fits the dancer\u2019s robotic movement.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A\/\/api.soundcloud.com\/tracks\/231743364&amp;auto_play=false&amp;hide_related=false&amp;show_comments=true&amp;show_user=true&amp;show_reposts=false&amp;visual=true\" width=\"100%\" height=\"200\" frameborder=\"no\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Having won prizes such as <em>Outstanding Young Artist of the Year<\/em>\u00a0by the <strong>Puertorrican Association of UNESCO<\/strong> (2011), the Berlin-based &amp; Puerto Rican choreographer is also a creative director, dance teacher and an artist.
