Next month sees the release of the second album from Public Service Broadcasting<\/strong><\/a> –\u00a0The Race For Space<\/i><\/strong>\u00a0– and we\u2019re taking a brief exploration into the music video for \u2018Gagarin<\/strong>\u2019, the first single from this new record.<\/p>\n Just in case you don\u2019t know about PSB<\/strong>, they\u2019re an unsuspecting, corduroy-clad duo<\/strong> (Frontman J.Willgoose, Esq. & drummer, Wrigglesworth respectively) who sample public information films and archived material<\/strong>\u00a0and fuse it\u00a0with fresh new music written by the band. Sold? You should be. It\u2019s even better when you see them\u00a0live where they use the footage from the samples to support their live shows; we were lucky enough to have them perform at one of our Screen Social nights\u00a0in 2012.<\/p>\n Saying that, this video is just a joy to watch. The song itself is a funk-tinged, head-nod-inducing track<\/strong> that just makes you smile \u2013 and then you see synchronised dancing astronauts!<\/strong> Now, who doesn\u2019t want to see that?! The choreography is the right amount of cool and kitsch<\/strong> (in a similar vein to Ok, Go!), backdropped by some fantastic archive footage of the first man in space, Yuri Gagarin. Simply put, it\u2019s a fun video that you\u2019ll want to watch again and again.<\/p>\n Check out PSB in session with Marc Riley on BBC Radio 6 Music below.
